Sharing Knowledge at the Leica Roadshow Across the UK and Ireland
One of the best things about the construction and surveying industry is the people behind it. The technology is evolving rapidly, but events like the Leica Roadshow across the UK and Ireland show that the industry is also built on collaboration, learning, networking, and sharing knowledge.
I had the pleasure of taking part in the Leica Roadshow events as part of the Education Zone, representing my engineering academy where I teach students the essential skills of construction setting out and modern surveying workflows. It was a fantastic experience full of positive energy, great conversations, new connections, and discussions about the future of digital construction technology.
The roadshow brought together surveyors, engineers, construction professionals, technology specialists, educators, and students, all with a shared interest in how modern construction technology is transforming the industry. It was great to meet so many passionate people and exchange ideas about construction engineering, surveying, machine control, digital workflows, and education within the industry.
Introduction and Demonstrations of the latest Leica TS20
One of the main highlights of the roadshow was the introduction and demonstrations of the latest Leica TS20 AI-powered robotic total station and its advanced capabilities. It was very interesting to see how AI-powered surveying instruments are continuing to change site workflows and improve productivity, accuracy, and efficiency on construction projects.
The Leica TS20 represents another major step forward for robotic total stations. Modern instruments are now doing much more than simply measuring points. With AI-powered features, improved processing capabilities, advanced tracking, and smarter workflows, these technologies are helping engineers and surveyors work faster, safer, and with greater confidence on site.
What was particularly exciting was seeing how these new digital solutions are becoming increasingly practical for real-world construction and surveying applications. From construction setting out and as-built surveys to monitoring, modern robotic total stations and digital construction workflows are helping reshape how projects are delivered across the industry.
The venues throughout the roadshow were also fantastic and created a great atmosphere for networking, demonstrations, and practical discussions around the latest construction technology. Events like this are incredibly valuable because they allow professionals to see the newest equipment in action, ask questions directly to experts, and better understand how digital construction tools can improve everyday site operations.
For me personally, it was also a great opportunity to represent the education side of the industry. As someone teaching students the foundations of construction setting out and surveying, it is very important to connect education with real industry technology and workflows. The future generation of engineers and surveyors needs exposure not only to the latest equipment, but also to the practical realities of modern construction projects.
A big thank you once again to the Leica team for having me as part of the Education Zone during the Leica Roadshow across the UK and Ireland. It was a fantastic experience, great networking opportunity, and another reminder of how fast the construction and surveying industry continues to evolve through digital technology, AI-powered instruments, and modern engineering workflows.
